aswechoke asked: I knew you'd understand. I'm actually REALLY considering never working for free again with the exception of shooting shows for bands I actually love to see live, that's always worth it to me. Most don't understand that we're actually working- I'm not just some silly kid messing around with my camera anymore. Also have a kid asking me to shoot his show at Chain on Friday and offered to get me in free...it's a local show, I don't CARE. Sorry I'm aggrivated lol

I totallyyy know where you’re coming from. It’s so aggravating because some people have the audacity to question what services are “worth” paying for. I definitely agree with shooting bands that you genuinely enjoy. That’s a whole different story. Sometimes just a ticket and being able to photograph and wacth a band you love is chill compensation. But when it comes to doing things for local bands and such it can get frustrating man -_- It’s not like show photographers just roll up to a venue and start pressing buttons and BAM, everythings dope. ESPECIALLY at freaking chain. You’ve got like 7 inches of stage space while you’re sharing a corner with a guitarist or you’re standing in the crowd getting your gear punched or hit with spit and water! then there’s the process of going home and sitting there sorting through photos for what could be hours. no one wants to sound naggy about tickets or compensation, but it’s like come on now, you can only do so many shoots and so many shows for exposure or favors.
